SCA’s Letter to Families

March 12th 2020

Dear Spartan Families,

As a reminder, Savannah Classical Academy (SCA) made the decision to not require student attendance on half days during the 2019-2020 school year. Tomorrow, Friday March 13th, is a holiday for SCA students and workday for staff. All next week is the scheduled spring break for students and staff.

I am sure you are concerned about Coronavirus (COVID-19). We want to reassure you that SCA leadership and our governing board are carefully monitoring and following guidelines provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH).

While on break some of you may be traveling. Current guidance given to SCA for any student/staff returning from a location with sustained widespread transmission, identified by the CDC with a Travel Warning of Level 3, should not attend school/return to work for 14 days after the return date. This includes students or staff members who may be living with someone who traveled to a high-risk area. Specific directions on verifying, documenting, and managing such absences will be provided as needed.

It is important we do what we can to prevent illness while continuing to provide quality instruction to students in a positive learning environment. Please monitor your email, text messages, and calls from SCA. We will send updates as needed throughout the break and for the remainder of this situation.

Thank you for your support as we work thought this event. We wish for you, as always, a safe and healthy spring break.

Yours sincerely,

Barry K. Lollis, Executive Director
