SAVANNAH, GA. – NOV. 8, 2021 – Savannah Classical Academy (SCA) has appointed Nick Lavery as the new athletic director for the school. In this role, he will oversee all SCA athletic teams and teach SCA students the importance of physical education through daily activity.
Nick Lavery started working for SCA when he was appointed to the upper school as PE teacher and the head coach of varsity boys’ basketball team. For three years, he has led students in a wide range of sports and physical activities. Lavery received a BS from Valdosta State University in Health and Physical Education and is certified to teach grades K-12. While teaching skills and technique are important in his classes, his primary goal is to help students find joy in movement. The teamwork, commitment, and cooperation skills the students learn through physical education are lifelong tools that can be applied to their future goals and endeavors. As Athletic Director, Lavery is continuing to grow the athletic department to build a robust student-athlete culture.
“Mr. Lavery has been a great addition to our teaching staff here at SCA and we are delighted to promote him to this new role of athletic director,” said SCA Executive Director Barry Lollis. “The students engage with Mr. Lavery and enjoy his teaching which motivates them to be active. We believe that he will excel in this role and elevate our athletic department even further.”
The Savannah Classical Academy athletic department offers an exceptional student-athlete experience with high expectations on the court and field as well as in the classroom.
