Georgia charter school is renewed after test scores improve

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — A coastal Georgia charter school that had been in trouble with state authorities has had its charter renewed.

The Savannah Morning News reports Georgia’s state Board of Education voted last month to renew Savannah Classical Academy for a full five years.

The state had placed Savannah Classical on probation and banned new enrollment in July 2017 because of poor academic performance. The enrollment ban was lifted a year later after state test scores improved.
