Savannah Classical Academy is committed to providing your child with a rigorous academic curriculum driven by high expectations. We developed our Summer Reading program in line with this philosophy, wishing to challenge the students during the summer months with informative, inspirational, and classic literature, while preparing the students for the upcoming year’s curriculum.

Please, take time to read these selections with your children. If a child begins to struggle reading any of the selected works for his/her rising grade level, parents are encouraged to assist by reading to the child and discussing the book with him/her. Parents should ask the child to make predictions, remember and describe the main characters, recall what they’ve already read, and be excited about all the reading.

Students may be asked to recite a poem or discuss any of the books or biographies read on the first day back. We encourage you to read consistently over the summer instead of trying to cram all of the reading in just before the first day of school. There is a reading log included in each grade-level packet to encourage you and your student to read regularly over this abbreviated 11-week holiday.

Be Virtuous. Be Studious.
